A service dog is an investment for everyone involved
PAWS is a not for profit organization that has a firm belief no one should have to pay for a service dog, however with that being said, at the end of the day a not for profit charitable organization is still a business as the expenses we incur for the training , travel and day to day operations do mount up. Most of our families become actively enrolled in our program as an Ambassador to the organization and help raise awareness, education and advocacy in the community at large through our fundraising campaigns. We will help head spear campaigns, provide direction, support and guidance in raising funds under the auspice of our organization to benefit us and help carry out our mission. In essence , our clients make a pledge to our organization to help us sustain and to defray financial obligations of those who enroll in our program. The pledge is how we budget and run day to day operations, cover our travel expenses and trainers. Our organization allows flexibility of a 2 year campaign, rather than other businesses or companies you may have encountered which require funding to be upfront.
Months of training, housing and veterinary care are invested in each dog. Paws is a 501(c)3 nonprofit (FEIN: 87-2934079) that does not receive government funding: we depend on general public donations, grants, fundraisers and volunteers. The full cost to breed, raise and train an PAWS autism service dog is over $40,000. The industry average for any discipline of service dogs ranges from $20,000 to $50,000 dollars. We do everything in our power to reduce costs to help our families!
Paws 4 Autism sets a donation goal of $18,000 for every approved family. Most families are able to raise the complete amount through events, sales, friends, family and even business donations. Families should expect to budget ~$250/month for ongoing expenses of maintaining a service dog (veterinary care, food, supplies, etc) after placement.
