PAWSable.Life's Professional Service Dogs for VETERANS
The Memoriam link to your right is a dedicated fund for service dogs for Veterans. Bill Koeneker was a proud WWII Veteran who supported many charities that focused on helping Veterans. His family chose PAWS donations in lieu of flowers so that more veterans could get a service dog in Bill's honor. The Koeneker's have been close friends (adopted family) to PAWS admin for many decades. It is our priviledge to serve as a legacy to Bill and the Koeneker family. |

Considering a service dog for a Veteran can be daunting. We want to help you through that process! We will help you decide whether it is a good choice for your needs, then help you choose an agency that best fits those needs. Sometimes we are the right fit....sometimes another agency might be. We have several specialists that we refer to when needed. Currently, our focus is on working in the Kansas City region. However, we will consider and consult on a case by case basis with clients within a four hour driving radius of Lees Summit 64082.
THERE IS ZERO OUT OF POCKET COST FOR A VETERAN TO GET A SERVICE DOG FROM PAWS. However, we do have volunteer requirements. Just like all of our service dogs, we ensure that the pup placed not only exceeds the minimum requirements of Therapy Dogs International and Assistance Dogs International, but also is the best fit for your unique needs.
Please note: we cannot train or certify your pet dog as a service dog.
Due to liability issues, we can only place the dogs in our programs with approved applicants.
To qualify for a professional service dog, you must be a veteran in need of a psychological/PTSD service dog. If you are looking for a mobility service dog, let us know and we will refer you to appropriate agencies.
First step is our basic online application:
